Biography
Percy Faith, born on April 7, 1908, and passed away on February 9, 1976, was a celebrated Canadian bandleader, composer, conductor and orchestrator. He gained fame for his rich and elaborate arrangements of popular songs and Christmas classics. Faith is widely acknowledged for popularizing the "easy listening" or "mood music" genre. Throughout the 1950s and into the 1960s, he became a prominent figure in American popular music. Despite starting his career during the era of swing music, Faith revolutionized orchestration techniques by incorporating large string sections to soften and enhance the predominantly brass-based popular music of the 1940s.
