Biography
Russell Watson, an English tenor, was born on November 23, 1966. He has released singles and albums of both opera-style and pop songs. He began singing at a young age and gained recognition after performing at a working men's club. In 1999, he caught the public's attention by singing "God Save the Queen" at the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, as well as "Barcelona" at the last match of the Premiership season between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. He also performed a full set of songs at the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final in Barcelona, which featured Manchester United and Bayern Munich. Watson has been referred to as the "People's Tenor."
