Biography

Charlie Shavers, born on August 3, 1920, was a renowned American jazz trumpet player during the swing era. Throughout his career, he had the pleasure of performing with esteemed musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Johnny Dodds, Jimmy Noone, Sidney Bechet, Midge Williams, and Billie Holiday. Aside from his exceptional trumpet skills, Shavers was also recognized for his talent as an arranger and composer. One of his notable compositions, "Undecided," has become a jazz standard. Sadly, Charlie Shavers passed away on July 8, 1971.
