Biography

Lawrence "Bud" Freeman, born on April 13, 1906, and passed away on March 15, 1991, was a distinguished American jazz musician, bandleader, and composer. Freeman is widely recognized for his exceptional talent on the tenor saxophone and also demonstrated his mastery of the clarinet. With his smooth and rich tenor sax style, he brought a compelling and dynamic swing to his performances. Freeman played a significant role during the Big Band era and became one of the most influential and esteemed jazz tenor saxophonists of his time. Notable compositions and recordings in Freeman's repertoire include "The Eel," "Tillie's Downtown Now," "Crazeology," "The Buzzard," and "After Awhile," on which he collaborated with Benny Goodman.
