Biography

Ulali is a renowned a cappella group consisting of Native American women. The group was established in 1987 and is comprised of three talented members: Pura Fé, of Tuscarora/Taino descent, Soni, who has Mayan, Apache, and Yaqui roots, and Jennifer Kreisberg, also of Tuscarora heritage. Ulali's musical style encompasses a wide range of indigenous music, including the traditional choral singing of the Southeast United States, pre-blues and gospel, as well as pre-Columbian music. In their captivating live performances, Ulali tackles important themes such as Native struggles and achievements. Initially starting as a larger ensemble called "Pura Fe'," which consisted of three male and three female singers, the group eventually evolved into a duo featuring Soni Moreno and Pura Fé, before ultimately transitioning into the trio that they are today.
