Biography

Formed in Dublin in 1969, Thin Lizzy is an iconic Irish rock band. The origin of the band can be traced back to drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist/vocalist Phil Lynott, who first crossed paths during their school days. Lynott took on the mantle of frontman and guided the band throughout their fruitful recording career, spanning twelve studio albums. Notably, Thin Lizzy gained worldwide recognition for their timeless hits "Whiskey in the Jar", "Jailbreak", and "The Boys Are Back in Town", which are still widely played on hard rock and classic rock radio stations. Following Lynott's passing in 1986, the band has seen various iterations centered around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes, with the latter departing in 2009.
