Biography

Sam Lowry Hunt, an American singer and songwriter, was born on December 8, 1984. Originally from Cedartown, Georgia, Hunt had a passion for football during his school and college years and even attempted to pursue a professional sports career. However, he eventually signed with MCA Nashville in 2014 and embarked on a successful solo music career. Before his solo success, Hunt gained recognition for writing hit singles for artists such as Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Billy Currington, and Reba McEntire. His debut studio album, Montevallo, set several chart records with five singles, including three consecutive number ones on the Hot Country Songs chart and four on the Country Airplay chart. The album's lead single, "Leave the Night On," reached the top of both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, making Hunt the first country artist in the Nielsen SoundScan-era to achieve this feat since Billy Ray Cyrus 22 years prior. Furthermore, Hunt became the first country artist since Clint Black to have both the number one album and single on the year-end charts with Montevallo and "Take Your Time." The fifth single, "Make You Miss Me," also reached number one on the Country Airplay chart, making Hunt the first solo male artist to achieve four number ones from a debut studio album on that chart. Hunt's unique artistry has earned him recognition not only within the country music community but also outside of it. His boundary-breaking style incorporates elements of R&B and pop into his production and songwriting. He has received various awards, including an American Music Award and a CMT Music Award, as well as nominations for Billboard Music Awards and Grammy Awards.
