Formed in 1952 and active until Bill Haley's passing in 1981, Bill Haley & His Comets were a pioneering American rock and roll band. Their various names included Bill Haley and The Comets and Bill Haley's Comets. Their significant achievement was introducing rock and roll to both white America and the global audience of that era. From late 1954 to late 1956, the band scored nine singles in the Top 20, including one that reached number one and three more that made it into the Top Ten.
