Biography

During the late 1930s and 1940s, the Pied Pipers emerged as a well-liked musical ensemble. Initially comprising of eight talented individuals who had previously performed with three distinct groups, they brought together a variety of musical backgrounds. Among the members were Jo Stafford, previously part of The Stafford Sisters, as well as seven male vocalists: John Huddleston, Hal Hopper, Chuck Lowry, Bud Hervey, George Tait, Woody Newbury, and Dick Whittinghill. These seven singers had previously been involved with two different groups named The Four Esquires and The Three Rhythm Kings. Additionally, the group briefly included multi-instrumentalist Spencer Clark.
