Biography

Formed in 1982, The Pogues are a Celtic punk band hailing from London and led by Shane MacGowan. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, the band gained significant international recognition. However, MacGowan's drinking problems led to his departure from the band in 1991. Despite this setback, The Pogues carried on with new vocalists Joe Strummer and later Spider Stacy before disbanding in 1996. The group reunited in 2001 and has performed regularly ever since. Notably, they have made appearances on the US East Coast during St. Patrick's Day celebrations and have toured across the UK and Ireland every December. As of now, the band hasn't released any new music and has expressed no desire to do so, as stated by Spider Stacy on Pogues.com.
