In 1977, a female vocal duo called Baccara was formed by Spanish artists Mayte Mateos and María Mendiola. The pair quickly gained worldwide fame with their first single "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie", reaching the top of the charts in many European countries and becoming one of the best-selling singles ever. They continued to achieve success with another hit single, "Sorry, I'm a Lady", and embarked on a European tour. Baccara's popularity led to the release of several albums, numerous television appearances, and their selection to represent Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978.
