Biography
Sir George Shearing was an accomplished jazz pianist of Anglo-American descent. He was widely recognized for leading a highly popular jazz group for several years, with his recordings being released through Discovery Records, MGM Records, and Capitol Records. As a composer, he created over 300 musical compositions, many of which made it onto the Billboard charts throughout the 1950s, 1960s, 1980s, and 1990s. Tragically, he passed away in New York City on February 14, 2011, at the age of 91, due to heart failure.
