Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., born on October 20, 1971, is a well-known American rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is recognized by his various alter-egos like Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop Dogg, and Snoop Lion. Under the name Snoop Lion, he has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Snoop started his music career in 1992 after being discovered by Dr. Dre. He collaborated with Dre on his solo debut album called The Chronic, as well as on the theme song for the film Deep Cover. Snoop released his debut album, Doggystyle, in 1993 under the Death Row Records label. The album debuted at No.1 on both the Billboard 200 and R&B charts and sold nearly a million copies in its first week. It was certified 4× platinum in 1994 and produced several popular singles like "What's My Name" and "Gin & Juice". In 1994, Snoop released the soundtrack for the short film Murder Was The Case, in which he starred. His second album, Tha Doggfather, was released in 1996 and also debuted at No.1 on both charts. Its lead single was "Snoop's Upside Ya Head", and the album was certified double platinum in 1997.
