Biography
Eddie Heywood, Jr., originally known as Edward Heywood, Jr., was a renowned jazz pianist born on December 4, 1915, in Atlanta, Georgia. He gained popularity in the 1940s, but his musical roots go even further back. His father, Eddie Heyward, Sr., was a jazz musician during the 1920s, making music a significant part of their family legacy. During his career, Heywood, Jr. had the opportunity to collaborate with several notable jazz musicians. In 1932, he played alongside Wayman Carver, and from 1934 to 1937, he joined forces with Clarence Love. After relocating to New York, Heywood, Jr. worked with Benny Carter from 1939 to 1940, further solidifying his place in the jazz scene. Tragically, Eddie Heywood, Jr. passed away on January 3, 1989, in Miami Beach, Florida.
