Biography
Formed in 1987 by the late Chad "Pimp C" Butler, UGK (Underground Kingz) was an influential American rap duo hailing from Port Arthur, Texas. Pimp C teamed up with Bernard "Bun B" Freeman, establishing a long-term partnership. Their debut major label album, "Too Hard to Swallow," dropped in 1992, followed by a string of successful releases that made their mark on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Their eponymous album, "Underground Kingz," secured the number one spot on the Billboard 200 in August 2007. UGK collaborated with other artists, contributing to smash hits such as Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin'" and Three 6 Mafia's "Sippin' on Some Syrup." Pimp C later founded UGK Records toward the end of 2005.
