Jocelyn Eve Stoker, born on April 11, 1987, is a famous English soul singer, songwriter, and actress known by her stage name Joss Stone. She gained popularity in late 2003 with her successful debut album, The Soul Sessions, which was certified multi-platinum and was shortlisted for the 2004 Mercury Prize. Her second album, Mind Body & Soul, also achieved multi-platinum status and topped the UK Albums Chart for one week. The album included the hit single "You Had Me", which became Stone's most successful song on the UK Singles Chart. At the 2005 Grammy Awards, both the album and the single received nominations. Stone herself was also nominated for Best New Artist. In a BBC poll of music critics, she ranked fifth as a predicted breakthrough artist of 2004. Stone made history as the youngest British female singer to have her first album reach number one on the UK Albums Chart. In 2009, she joined the supergroup SuperHeavy. Stone's third album, Introducing Joss Stone, was released in March 2007 and achieved gold record status. It debuted at a high position on the Billboard 200, making Stone the second-highest debut for a British female solo artist on that chart. The album also became her first top 5 album in the United States and her first non-top 10 album in the United Kingdom.
