Als das Gespräch ins Stocken geriet

Konnte aber keine offene Bar finden
Wir haben im Spirituosenladen einen Sixpack gekauft
Und wir haben es in ihrem Auto getrunken

Aber keiner wusste wie
Sie sagte, sie habe sie, einen Architekten, geheiratet
Der sie warm, sicher und trocken hielt
Am liebsten hätte sie gesagt, dass sie den Mann liebte
Aber sie log nicht gern
Ich sagte, die Jahre seien eine Freundin für sie gewesen
Und dass ihre Augen immer noch so blau waren
Aber in diesen Augen war ich mir nicht sicher, ob ich es sah
Zweifel oder Dankbarkeit
Sie sagte, sie hätte mich in den Plattenläden gesehen
Und dass es mir gut gehen muss
Ich sagte, das Publikum sei himmlisch
Aber das Reisen war die Hölle
