Biography
Christopher Maurice Brown, also known as Chris Brown, is a multi-talented American artist. He was born on May 5, 1989, in Tappahannock, Virginia. From a young age, Brown demonstrated his musical abilities by participating in his church choir and local talent shows. In 2004, he signed with Jive Records and released his first self-titled studio album the following year. The album reached number two on the US Billboard 200 and achieved double platinum certification from the RIAA, selling a total of three million copies worldwide. Brown made history as the first male artist since Diddy in 1997 to have his debut single, "Run It!", reach the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. His second album, "Exclusive" (2007), produced another number one hit, "Kiss Kiss", as well as successful singles like "With You" and "Forever".
In addition to his solo success, Brown has collaborated with other artists on hit singles, including "No Air" with Jordin Sparks, "Shortie Like Mine" with Bow Wow, and "Shawty Get Loose" with Lil Mama and T-Pain. These songs reached high positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Brown's third album, "Graffiti," was released in the same year, featuring the top-twenty single "I Can Transform Ya". His fourth album, "F.A.M.E." (2011), became his first album to top the Billboard 200 chart and included popular songs like "Yeah 3x," "Look at Me Now," and "Beautiful People". "F.A.M.E." also brought Brown his first Grammy Award for Best R&B Album in 2011. Brown continued his success with albums such as "Fortune" (2012), "X," "Royalty," and "Heartbreak on a Full Moon," all of which reached the top 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Aside from his music career, Brown has also ventured into acting. He made his film debut in "Stomp the Yard" (2007) and has appeared in other movies such as "This Christmas" (2007), "Takers" (2010), "Think Like a Man" (2012), and "Battle of the Year" (2013). In 2009, Brown faced public scrutiny after pleading guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna. He received a sentence of five years of probation and six months of community service. Despite this setback, Brown's musical talent and success have not wavered.
With over 100 million records sold worldwide, Brown is considered one of the best-selling music artists. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including a Grammy Award, 14 BET Awards, 5 Billboard Music Awards, and 5 Soul Train Music Awards. According to Billboard, Brown holds the record for the seventh most Hot 100 entries on the chart, with a total of 90.
